Bloom's Taxonomy of Cognitive
Learning
Intellectual skills can be categorized, from the most simple to the
most complex. A Westminster education develops all six skills, focusing
on the more advanced.
- Knowledge: Observe
and recall data.
- Comprehension:
Understand the meaning of information, interpret facts, compare.
- Application: Use
concepts in a new situation, solve problems.
- Analysis:
Recognize component parts of concepts, see patterns, distinguish
fact from inference.
- Synthesis: Put
parts together to form a whole and create new meaning, predict, draw
conclusions.
- Evaluation: Assess
value of theories, make choices based on reasoned argument,
recognize subjectivity.
